PASS is a service for primary schools, run by the NFER, offering the marking and analysis of QCDA optional tests in English and mathematics for years 3, 4 and 5.

The PASS 2010 service is now closed.

PASS is unique in offering a service that:

  • Will reduce your teachers' workload by marking the years 3, 4 and 5 optional tests.
  • Provides files of question-level data.
  • Supplies analysis of your pupils' performance and progress from key stage 1, through years 3, 4 and 5 and onto year 6 in a form suitable for sharing with staff, governors and Ofsted.
  • Complements other sources of data that focus on end of key stage 1 and 2 assessments.
Provides predictions of performance at the end of key stage 2.
  • Can provide software so that teachers can mark the tests in school, but still benefit from the valuable question-level analyses.

This year you can choose to subscribe to one or a combination of our three services: our analysis service, our marking and analysis service, and our self-marking service (where you can mark your pupils’ tests on to our marking software). We will then be able to collect your pupils’ question-level responses and produce a report containing question-level analyses.

The tests themselves need to be ordered from QCDA. Please note that you need to purchase the 2006 versions of the tests. We cannot mark or analyse previously published versions.
