Citizenship and human rights

Citizenship and human rights education is recognised as essential in the education of everyone, particularly young people. Such an education equips and empowers learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to:

  • exercise their democratic rights and responsibilities
  • contribute to the building of a universal culture of human rights
  • play an active and informed part in democratic life in society.

NFER researchers have built up considerable expertise in this area, at national, European and international level, through involvement in a range of research projects, evaluations and consultancies.
