Joana is Development Manager in the Sales, Marketing and Impact Department. Her role involves promoting NFER’s own programme of research externally.
Joana previously worked as Research Manager in the Research Department, where her main area of work was citizenship education, including CELS (Citizenship Education Longitudinal Study, sponsored by DfE), and the IEA’s ICCS (International Civic and Citizenship Education Study). She has also collaborated on a number of school improvement projects. Joana’s background is in Psychology: BSc (HnS) Psychology with French and MSc Occupational Psychology, Goldsmiths University of London; Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing, British Psychological Society. Prior to joining NFER, Joana taught and supervised student research projects at Universidade Lusófona, Portugal (Department of Psychology). She also has experience of working in human resources (UK) and careers services (Belgium).
